I get asked all the time (thanks to THIS and THIS video) if I design on Shopify. The answer? No… Y’all it is a BEAST of a platform and I haven’t had the capacity to go beyond Squarespace and Showit. Maybe someday. In the meantime, here are some gals I 100% suggest!
Okay, go look at these sites Leah did – they are AMAZING and look so unique for being Shopify! The Herbal Tea Co and Abi Ayers. Here’s why I suggest Leah – she is the most budget-friendly option on this list, a BRILLIANT marketing mind, and super kind (I know her personally).
Leah can help you add your products, build collections, design for the user experience and sales conversion. If you want to schedule a 30 minute free consultation, email Leah at HERE.
Taylor and I ran track together in college and I adore her! She currently only takes 1 client at a time and gets booked up months in advance, so reach out if you want to be on her calendar! Her prices for a web design range from $3,500-$8,500.
Lea is an EXPERT in the Shopify world! She is a bit on the pricier end ($4,000 for a 2 day intensive), but you will get your money’s worth!
Kristi is a fellow mama of 2 littles living in Spokane, WA! She has been in retail marketing since 2016 and jumped into Shopify in 2020. Her web design + development journey started with Squarespace, but in 2024 she shifted to primarily Shopify.
She has a 4-Week Shopify Web Design and Development intensive to help you create your store and a standard site starts at $6,000 and a landing page starts at $1,500.
Kait has been in the industry for 10+ years! She has a team that helps her with Shopify website design and development and has worked with some big names like Jordan Lee Dooley, Ashley Lemieux, and Dairy Boy. She is probably on the more expensive end for Shopify sites ($10k+), so if you don’t have that kind of budget, I would take a peek at her beautiful Shopify templates (around $900).
I don’t know Sydney personally, but she did The Legal Paige’s shop and it looks great! If you want a Shopify storefront created by her, you can expect to invest between four and mid-five figures on average. You need to have professional photography and branding done before working with her (which, honestly, kudos to her for laying her expectations! It is true, a MUCH BETTER website will be developed if you have those 2 things in place).
Well I have been designing websites since 2011 (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Showit, etc.) and I’m not trying to DIY it… that being said, if you have the time to research and watch a million YouTube tutorials, go for it. You have to use a lot of work arounds (or code) to get things done and if you’re looking to update or redo your current site, you will need to transfer some code on the backend so it transfers your products and customers.
It is a great platform for e-commerce, but for the DIYer, I would go with Squarespace (especially if you have fewer than 30 products).

*NOTE* None of these ladies paid me to say this (although if one of you wants to send me a coffee, I won’t object). These are just people I have been personally following for a while and am connected with and therefore suggest.

Is Squarespace or Shopify Better for an eCommerce Site?
I’ve got messy hair and a thirsty heart.
I overshare my life, and have an ultra-expressive personality. Some words people use to describe me are: helpful, real, fun, creative, authentic, and kind.
Elphaba from Wicked is kind of my alter-ego as I am always trying to forge my own path and make a difference in the World, somehow, someway, while also constantly criticizing myself and trying to become the better version of me.
Quality conversations + coffee come easy to me.
I’ve never had an issue connecting naturally with others (probs because I can go on and on about my life story, not that it is interesting, I just process externally, anyone else?!)
