How to Move Your Squarespace Site From 7.0 To 7.1

FINALLY (and I mean finally) Squarespace is allowing you to transfer sites from 7.0 (Bedford or Brine template families) to 7.1.

For the longest time you were’t able to upgrade your site and had to completely redesign it in 7.1 which had many disadvantages including loosing all your hard-worked-for SEO as well as all your settings.

Note – you can preview it and not accept it if you don’t like it, but once you complete the update to 7.1, it’s is a permanent change.

With this tool you can move all your critical data (order history, analytics, SEO, blog posts, customer profiles, email campaigns, etc.) without loosing it and you won’t need to move your domain name to a new site. PRAISE šŸ™Œ

Why would you want to move your site to 7.1?

  1. They update it regularly so you’ll be moving with the flow of Squarespace
  2. It is more user-friendly (use Fluid Engine)
  3. You don’t need to use as much coding in order to achieve a customized website page
  4. Better SEO – Squarespace 7.1 has lazy-load images, site speed, etc. that are a bit better than 7.0
  5. More design features and it’s easier to navigate the design side (interface is better)
  6. You can add anything you want to any section of the page – with 7.0 some templates were limited
  7. You can edit the entire page at once instead of each stacked page in your big index page
  8. You can go to design styles while on any page instead of navigating to a different area of the back end of Squarespace
  9. You get 10 different “theme” styles with 7.1 this allows for more flexibility in each section
  10. More font options! Squarespace 7.0 had just 4 options – 7.1 has 4 heading sizes and colors and then 3 different colors and sizes for paragraph fonts
  11. Meets modern web standards like accessibility and performance

Iā€™ve got messy hair and a thirsty heart.

I overshare my life, and have an ultra-expressive personality. Some words people use to describe me are: helpful, real, fun, creative, authentic, and kind.

Elphaba from Wicked is kind of my alter-ego as I am always trying to forge my own path and make a difference in the World, somehow, someway, while also constantly criticizing myself and trying to become the better version of me.

Quality conversations + coffee come easy to me.

Iā€™ve never had an issue connecting naturally with others (probs because I can go on and on about my life story, not that it is interesting, I just process externally, anyone else?!)

I find so much joy in helping and serving others and I give myself fully to whatever it is that engages me, whether that is running a 50k or creating a website in a day.
